HELP PAGE - WEB SITE OF KHS52

This guide to the web site of the Kingfisher High School Graduating Class of 1952 is intended for both first-time visitors and for anyone who wants a quick look at what is to be found there. This guide was updated in April 2003, and small changes on the site may have been made since then, but any major changes will be accompanied by changes here.

Kingfisher, Oklahoma is a fine town and community about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Oklahoma City. Click HERE for a map or HERE for information about Kingfisher.

CLICK ON ANY OF THE LANDSCAPES ON THE FRONT PAGE TO GET A SURPRISE. Try clicking on the first one, a view from the southeast, for "starters".

At the top of the front page is a welcome to the site and the scrolling text of the school song. A click on HELP gets the screen you are reading now. A click on MENU takes you down the page to the main list of choices.

MUSIC!       MUSIC!       MUSIC!

The school song "Kingfisher High" plays on the Front Page, and the fight song plays on various other pages. Both are in MIDI format, arranged and performed in late 1998 by Dave Kosmyna, a student in the Music Department at the University of Toledo. To hear them, you need a sound card and a plug-in for your web browser that supports MIDI sound format. For information, check the MIDI INFO SITE prepared by Julian Davies, former webmaster of Epworth United Methodist Church.

The main part of the page begins with a table of nine items led by blue bullets. The pages seen by clicking these bullets are:

CLASSMATES, SENIOR PHOTOS, DOUGLASS SCHOOL, TEACHERS, FELLOWSHIP, MEMORIES, PHOTO TOUR, KINGFISHER, +CLASSES OF 52, GUESTBOOK, NEW THINGS, and SEARCH THE SITE.

CLASSMATES is a listing of all the classmates we have information on, name, spouse's name, years at KHS, telephone number, address, and e-mail. For convenience, one can click on the location in the alphabet nearest to the last name of the classmate before marriage. As on most of the pages on this site, there are easy clicks to get back to the front page. At the bottom of the screen, the names of our deceased classmates scroll in memoriam.

SENIOR PHOTOS: Scans of original photos of us as graduating seniors. Most are the photos that appear in the yearbook, but in some cases those poses were not available, so the ones available from the Chisholm Trail Museum were used. The yearbook pose of Patsy Jones was available, but I thought the one I used was just too pretty to pass up. The picture of Marilyn High is from Jim Burns' collection of wallet-size photos. Click on any photo to get a larger image.

Under each photo is the word MORE. Click on MORE to see ALL the poses from theMeacham Studio during the sitting for the senior photo. In a few cases, other senior photos have been included behind MORE, e.g. poses in band uniform, cap and gown, etc.

DOUGLASS SCHOOL 1952: Photos of the four graduates of Douglass High School in 1952. A group photo and individual photos. All of these are from the Chisholm Trail Museum.

OUR TEACHERS has photographs of all of our teachers. I was able to find negatives of originals in the Chisholm Trail Museum. At the top of the page are some special pictures of our sponsors, Mrs. Buswell and Mr. Harmon. Two clicks at the top of the page bring up the text of the eulogy to Mrs.Buswell read by Ted at our 40th Reunion and the text of "Please, Teacher, Walk a Piece with Me" by Mrs. Buswell. Ted Buswell loaned me a photo of all the teachers in Kingfisher High School, Junior High School, and Washington Grade School taken in (September?) 1945. There is a click to that photo.

FELLOWSHIP: Photos and reports of get-togethers between and among our classmates and others. There are photos from reunions and minireunions. Don't fail to look at the photos from the 50th Reunion. There are pages on the 40th Reunion and the 45th Reunion. There are photos from Commencement 1999 at KHS when Bill Gooden was inducted into the Hall of Fame and photos from the cookout at Bill Gooden's house in July 1999. There are photos from the "New Years Eve" party on 30 December 1999 at the Varsity Grille and many more. Just go there and see.

MEMORIES is huge, and it promises to get bigger. As of this writing there are 27 clicks there with information. (Click on the item, not on the butterfly.) There are also some clicks to oldies music sites, AND DON'T FAIL TO CHECK OUT THE SOUND CLIPS, e.g., "Ovaltine" in the box by FIRST GRADE.

      SECOND GRADE: A photo of Miss Brown's second grade class at Washington School in 1941. I would commit unspeakable acts to get a copy of a photo of Miss Estill's second grade class. I joined that class on the first school day in January 1942. {In 2005, Dorothy Burns Pray ('51), Jim Burns's sister, sent me a copy of this photo. It is now on the page with the photo of Miss Brown's 2nd-grade class.}

Links are given to the Chemistry and the Physics Departments at the University of Toledo, whose equipment was used extensively when this site was originally developed. None of that equipment is used now, but the acknowledgement remains in gratitude. Finally, there is a click to a page where I acknowledge the considerable help I have had with this site.

Enjoy your visit, sign the guestbook, and come back again any time.
